The wood

Our furniture is made from a variety of woods, selected to suit the design of each piece and your own preference. We let the character of the wood feature in each piece of furniture, and like to use burr or pippy oak and quarter-sawn 'flamed' oak to add interest.

Sustainability and care of the environment is important to us, so we source all our wood from local suppliers, where possible using timber from Cumbria and over the border into Scotland. Types of wood we work with include oak,  ash,  sycamore,  scots pine, and cherry.  We buy most of our wood from Philip Richardson in Cumbria.

Finishing

We prefer to finish each piece with either oil or wax to give a natural, beautiful and hard wearing finish, but we will always select the best finish to suit your budget and needs.
